Kotli Saru Khan


Kotli Saru Khan [ਕੋਟਲੀ ਸਰੂ ਖਾਂ] (کوٹلی سارو خان )  is a medium size village located near Khadur Sahib of Tarn Taran district, Punjab (India).[2][3] [4]It is located on Jandiala Guru to Verowal Road.

History

From the name itself, it is very clear that it belongs to founder of the village, Mr. SARU KHAN.

Around 1800 AD (200 hundred years ago), the land was captured by Mr. Saru Khan by drawing a border line with running horse. After the land was captured, he started living here with his family. Over the time, as the population grow,  the village Kotli Saru Khan formed. Saru Khan also had one brother ISA KHAN who served in the British Military. Due to his employment, Mr. Isa Khan was not allowed to capture the land and establish his own village.

During India Independence in 1947, the family of Saru Khan moved to Pakistan and now lives in Raiwind, which is 140 km from the village. As per the information from  Mr. Adeem, tomb was built for Saru Khan and Isa Khan which was later demolish by the current resident because of unknown historical importance of these monuments. 

After 1947, resident of Kotli Saru Khan are Sikhs who also migrated form other villages which are from Pakistan or India. Mostly peoples migrated from Lyallpur (Now Faisalabad in Pakistan), Nagoke, Datekot, Sangor, Sahnsra, Narangabad etc. The migration from different villages occur due to Jamabandi after independence.

Population

According to Population Census 2011, the Kotli Saru Khan village has population of 917 of which 444 are males while 473 are females with total 168 families residing. Sex ratio of the village is quite higher than state Punjab. As per 2011 census sex ration in village is 1065 where in Punjab is average of 846. Child sex ration is also very high, which is around 1170 as per census 2011. According to Census 2011 information, the location code or village code of Kotli Saru Khan village is 038309.

Religion

The People of Kotli Saru Khan follows the Sikh Religion. There is one beautiful Gurudhwara Sahib in the village.
There is also one tomb of Muslim Fafir Baba Jorawali (now called Baba Sai Kuli) on the way towards Chack Kare Khan.

Agricultural is the main business. The total geographical area of village is 116 hectares. Young generation prefer to settle abroad so very few people are doing agricultural.
Earlier many people served in Military, Police or other governmental/private sectors at higher ranks but now the young generation prefer to settle abroad. Current prefer destinations are Canada, Australia and New Zealand but also living in USA, UK, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Greece, Japan, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia etc.
